MY TEAMMATE, MY BROTHER, MY FRIEND

There are many qualities that a person should have to be a good teammate.  The first is to be completely selfless.  They should think of others and the team before themselves.  It’s not all about who gets the ball or who scores the most points.  It’s all about performing your role to the best of your ability.  For example, I have been apart of many teams where just getting a cup of water for the person playing made a difference in the game.  Whether on the bench or on the court, they should always be excited for their teammates.  A good teammate doesn’t get jealous of others.  They only have the desire to work hard during every opportunity to get better.  A great teammate is someone who tells you what you need to hear, instead of what you want to hear.  They can push you to new accomplishments through encouragement and motivation.  They are a person who you can always trust.  If there is a problem on the team you can talk to them.  A great teammate always brings energy to the game or practice through hustle.  Some may be faster and stronger, but a good teammate makes up for it with desire.  They never think of themselves first, they play for their teammates.  A great teammate is humble after a victory, and is a good sport after a loss.  If you dive on the floor, a good teammate will extend their hand to pick you up.  If you miss a shot, they will tell you to “keep playing, you’re fine.” A good teammate is encouraging, sharing, passionate, and fun to play with.
