WATERLOO

not everyone can say they were born on their due date.  but, on october 4th 1993 my doctor could say he was the one that guessed right.  i was born in waterloo, iowa at 8 lbs. 8 ounces.  on a record hot 85 degree day...what a day that was for my family.  my dad was so happy to have a son in the family.  who could blame him.   could you imagine having 3 girls running around the house.  my dad would be overwhelmed.  so i came a long to balance things out a little bit.  my parents named me nathan; gift from god!

i was a hawkeye for 5 years of my life.  i can still remember the smell of the town of claremont and denver where we lived.  i would sit outside and stare at the landscape.  there is a peacefulness about iowa that you can't describe.  it's different than any other. the feeling you get when the wind blows the corn. it is the closet thing midwesterners have to ocean waves.  nothing at that point is important.  there is no drama, hurting, or desire.  you feel like the breeze can just whisk you away to heaven.
