i was a hawkeye for 5 years of my life. i can still remember the smell of the town of claremont and denver where we lived. i would sit outside and stare at the landscape. there is a peacefulness about iowa that you can't describe. it's different than any other. the feeling you get when the wind blows the corn. it is the closet thing midwesterners have to ocean waves. nothing at that point is important. there is no drama, hurting, or desire. you feel like the breeze can just whisk you away to heaven.
